Aoguzi McDonald currently resides just outside of Boston in Woburn, Massachusetts. Aoguzi was born in
Japan to Uyghur parents and came to the United States in 2010 at age 10 as a political asylee receiving
protection from China, becoming a US Citizen 12 years later. Aoguzi graduated from Georgetown University's
Walsh School of Foreign Service in 2023. He has had extensive experience in government, having worked in
the Senate for Sen. Ed Markey, and Sen. Ron Wyden, along with the Finance Committee. Furthermore, he
interned for the House in Rep. Seth Moulton's office, and the Congressional Coalition on Adoption Insitute as
an FYI intern. He also has experience in politics, having worked for political communication firm Arc
Initiatives, and spent a summer in the role of Government Relations for TIAA. Despite his lifelong connections
to Massachusetts and Japan, Aoguzi ultimately considers Washington, D.C. his home.
Aoguzi currently is a High School Social Studies Teacher at Pioneer Charter School of Science I, teaching US
History II, World History I, and AP US History, while serving as the head advisor for Model United Nations.
He is also a mentor for the school's College Mentorship Program. Aoguzi graduated high school from Pioneer
Charter School of Science II, therefore he cherishes the opportunity to serve the very community that shaped
him.
In the realm of foster care, Aoguzi has served on the Youth Advisory Board of the Rise Above Foundation for
two years, providing valuable input to the non-profit's activities to assist adolescent youth. As a Foster Youth
Intern for the Congressional Coalition on Adoption Institute, he published a federal research paper outlining
how educational access for youth can be improved at a national level, testifying to Congress in the process.
Outside of foster care, he is an advocate for international issues related to the Uyghurs, with a strong interest in
foreign policy.
Aoguzi has two passions: Government & Politics, and improving Foster Care. He hopes to continue his work of
combining the two and contribute to the overall success of the National Foster Care Policy Council.
